We initially purchase cruise insurance when we purchased our cruise tickets. We then did some web research and found that Trip Insurance International had substantially lower rates. We cancelled our original insurance and went with Trip Insurance Int'l. While we did not have any claims, the customer service was good and they supplied ID tags, etc on line. We were satisfied with our purchase.

Hurricane Ilene

The arrival of Hurricane Ilene closed down JFK airport the day I was to fly to Malaga, Spain. I had to reschedule my flight out of Boston. The cost of renting a car and driving to Boston was refunded to me by my insurance company Travel Insurance International after I submitted the necessary proof. All the forms were emailed to me and after I called I submitted only the two that was needed. I received my check approximately a month and a half later. I am overall pleased with my interaction with Travel Insurance International.

Damage to wheelchair

Sirs,
I was very unhappy with the company that we purchased insurance.through i.e. Travel Insured .
My wife's new travel wheelchair was severely damaged at the first port of a 24 day cruise. We had little choice but to rent a chair from Norweign Cruise Line for the remainder of the cruise. The cost was $390.00. When we applied for rental reimbursement we were told that only the damage to the chair could be covered and because we "did not have the broken chair" nor did we have "pictures of the broken chair" we were not eligible for reimbursement of any sort. (We did have a statement from the cruise reception desk that our chair was broke and that a rental chair was needed). We were denied any and all compensation.
